Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) POWER+ Grant Overview
“Southern West Virginia Bike Trail Network”
This project will develop a regionally-connected bike trail system in Southern West Virginia. The trail system will build on the region's strengths, which include its beautiful mountain landscape and rivers, numerous outdoor recreation and adventure opportunities (including hiking, biking, climbing, fishing, and whitewater sports), and interesting history and cultural background. It is being designed to appeal to a range of users, with a mix of rail trails, single track, and country roads that will provide connectivity around and between the New River Gorge National River in Fayette County and the Monongahela National Forest in Nicholas and Greenbrier Counties.
